What is Made in Pistoia?

It is a project created by the “Associazione Culturale Made In. . .” a non-profit association that promotes knowledge and understanding of the works and techniques of contemporary artists and craftsmen who exemplify the illustrious Italian artistic tradition. It uses this knowledge as a gateway to discover the best of Italy today in arts and crafts, cuisine, landscape, and beyond. The combination of these perspectives gives visitors an appreciation of an Italy that is modern while embodying an esthetic tradition that makes it unique among nations of the world.

One of our activities, especially useful for visitors and students, is a visit to Pistoia concentrating on working with local artist & artisans to understand their techniques and for each participant to produce an object using these techniques. Visitors come to understand that Italy’s artistic tradition is not simply something of the past that they view in churches and museums, but a vibrant part of Italy today.
