                                                  EXAMPLE TOUR ART & ARTISANS

Full day excursion visiting the workshops and studio of local artist and artisans.

9:00 am    Our group will meet at Café du Globe.
Our first location is a boutique located in a historical building in the ancient heart of the city which helps define the atmosphere and style of its business activity. Charming and spacious premises in a historical building with passageways and fluid spaces, aided by music and aromas, facilitate a an effective presentation of recent products like gilded gouache or glazed frames in a variety of colours, carved wooden mirrors and artistic solutions for made-to-measure interior design.

9:45 am    Arrival at our next destination on today’s tour Art & Interior design in metal.
The handicraft workshop is in Pistoia, a short stroll from the railway station. It is here that wrought-iron and mulberry paper creations take shape. During the course of years the workshop has originated a wide range of models inspired by geometric elements and by natural shapes like flowers and trees. These artisans make hand-crafted lamps (EC certified CE) and furnishing accessories like hat stands, shelves, mirrors and tables, with a strong artistic impact, original in the forms and fancy in the details. All entirely hand-crafted.

11:00 am    Arrival at our next destination on today’s tour, Mauro Partini & Family for a demonstration    of “Tooling & Embossing Metals”. Villa di Piteccio.
After a period as a leather craftsman, Mauro found his true love in metal working, including gold, silver, and precious minerals. Melting, laminating, embossing, and chiseling metals gave reign to his full expressive powers. Using the traditional hand instruments and manual machinery, he produces highly elaborated works that replicate in metal the synthetic forms of nature. He carefully conserves his raw materials, using the trimmings to fashion decorative highlights to pieces. His unique objects have drawn admiration at fairs and markets throughout Italy. He carefully conserves his raw materials, using the trimmings to fashion decorative highlights to pieces. 3 pm    Arrival at our next destination; Valerio Savino, born in Foggia, has an eclectic temperament that displays a    touch of the anarchic. His works are found in private and public collections in Italy and abroad. Savino’s art presents a strong sense of freedom. His works express a style situated between fantastic and surreal. As a painter and sculptor he finds surrealism to be the style best suited to his artistic thoughts and ventures. Savino has adopted a style that powerfully evokes the world of dreams and possibilities.

The Atelier of the painter and sculptor is only 3 kilometers from Pistoia’s city centre. In the Atelier, is the artist’s drawing, painting and terracotta laboratory. Outside the Atelier, among garden plants and Olive trees, there is a permanent exposition of marble and stone sculptures on display. 4:15 pm Departure to our next destination, Studio of Walter di Piazza

At a very early age Walter showed remarkable creative skill which led him to attend schools like the Istituto d’Arte and Liceo Artistico. During this time he developed a particular passion for drawing, painting and sculpture, expressed through increasingly attentive study of plastic shapes and colours.Although he did not complete his studies for personal reasons, he continued to nourish his talent with friendships with fellow artists and individual study of the history of art, drawing particular inspiration from the work of maestro Dalì and his vision of the work of art.He continued his studies by perfecting the art of sculpture and three-dimensional artistic techniques inspired by his graphic themes.

5 pm    Travel to our Final Destination Season’s Woodworking
